Perth Festival of Yarn, TJFrog and Karie Westermann... It's all go at Baa!

Updated: Jul 5, 2020

In 10 days time the shelves of Baa will be emptied, packed in boxes and driven to Perth for one of Scotland’s premier fibre events - Perth Festival of Yarn!

Numerous members of our knit groups will be heading South on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September to take part in workshops, squish yarn, meet friends and most likely enhance their ever growing yarn stash!

The latest yarn to arrive on the Baa shelves is Hedgehog Fibres Sock - Colours from left to right #method #kimono #deep end #budgie #pistachio #bee's knees

On the Baa stand I will be joined by 2 of my besties, Evelyn Paterson and Aurelie Colas (Aurelie is joining us from Saudi Arabia... Just for the weekend!) A talented designer, you can see some of Aurelie's designs below.

So, if you were planning a special visit to Baa, it would be unwise to make the journey on 7th, 8th or 9th of September as we will be closed…. And very empty!

Business returns to normal on Wednesday 12th September and we already have a packed schedule right up to Christmas… And beyond!

The diary for September and October is looking like this:

If you want to find out more about the workshops on offer right now follow this link to the website: Baa Workshop Schedule

On Sunday 11th November the excitement increases when Tania Ashton Jones, (Otherwise known as TJFrog) arrives in Stonehaven to host a workshop and trunk show! Tania is known throughout the UK, and across the pond, for her creative business which aims to help keep alive the traditional skill of the handmade Dorset Button.

Tania’s workshop will also feature some home grown talent! During the class participants will have the pleasure of working with hand dyed yarns created by HennyPennyMakes from Montrose. (I kept this one quiet Erin - wish I could see your face right now!) Materials, light refreshments, snacks and an invitation to Tania’s Trunk Show are all included in the workshop price. To book follow this link: I support independent artisans!

Two weeks later on Saturday 24th November Karie Westermann is returning to Baa to teach one of her Signature Classes - The Shetland Hap Shawl.

During the day Karie talks about the history of the hap shawl. Students will be taken through the traditional hap shawl construction and knit a small sample shawl using all the techniques required to master knitting a full size hap. This full-day workshop includes a masterclass in understanding Shetland lace charts.

On her last visit to Baa we could have filled Karie's class three times over so if you want to join in the fun be QUICK TO BOOK!

I fear I have prattled on a bit too much this time but my enthusiasm can be hard to curb at times! I will sign off for now and hope to see you very soon. If you are heading to Perth please stop by to say hello. It will be great to meet you!

P.S. Hey Gillian! When are you heading home?
