Yarn secrets and a 'Pinky Promise'

Updated: Jul 5, 2020

Happy New Year readers, and a belated ‘thank you’ for all the lovely cards and gifts graciously received in the run up to Christmas. I am so happy that you are continuing to enjoying my little Baa-haven as much as I am!

December was a very busy month, events, prizes, finished projects, parties, deliveries and more!

The week before Christmas saw the arrival of several large boxes to Baa. Most of our yarn deliveries arrive on a Wednesday afternoon, which subsequently causes huge excitement within the Wed afternoon knit group! Most of these new yarns are now sitting pretty on the Baa shelves awaiting your approval.

Which brings me to my 'Yarn Secrets'...

Secret No 1: Earlier this year John Arbon announced his much loved yarn Devonia would soon be available to wholesale customers. Spun to order, Baa chose 5 rich shades and organised a small selection of yarn ideas. Find out more as Devonia has now been added to the website.

Secret No 2: The long awaited arrival of Regia Pairfect Rainbow Colour which is a Dk weight self-striping sock yarn. Our Regia 4ply 'Arne & Carlos' range proved so popular with Baa customers that it seemed 'pairfect' to prepare for the cold months ahead with a heavier sock yarn to keep those tootsies warm on frosty mornings!

Secret No 3: Rowan Baby Cashsoft Merino

A delicious machine washable baby yarn with minimal manmade fibres. Rowan Baby Cashsoft Merino comes in a gorgeous colour palette and with a free pattern booklet too (While stocks last.) We have 10 colours in stock with more arriving soon. And, for fans of Debbie Bliss baby designs, this yarn knits to the same tension as Baby Cashmerino.

Secret No 4: Adiafil brings Italian luxury to Baa at an affordable price. Despite the enthusiasm of Francesca, the company representative, I resisted the temptation to fill the shop with summer yarns. Instead I made an educated guess that most of you will be continuing with cosy knitting for at least another 3 months! I would like to introduce you to Genziana, a 100% machine washable extra-fine merino 4ply, Regina, a 100% machine washable super wash merino Dk, Lana Naturale Inca, an aran weight blend in natural shades of 50% alpaca, 50% wool and finally Morfeo an aran/chunky weight blend of 63% wool, 20% alpaca, 6% silk & 11% viscose.

Secret number 5: I am super excited about yarn secret No 5. Infact, I am so excited that a small delay and delivery confusion means I will continue to keep 'this' secret... secret until I can physically place this special yarn on the Baa shelves!

And, what about that 'Pinky Promise'?

Knit groups are a great place to toss around ideas, so my pinky promise is the result of group discussions and a promise to members which will benefit all Baa customers.
