Just 1 Skein | The Stonehaven Collection

What can I say? The last 8 days have been a whirlwind. We knew you would love The Stonehaven Collection, but your reaction has blown us away! In less than 7 days we have completely SOLD OUT!

Seagull, Lido, Harbour, Sandstone & Dunnottar skeins have made new homes in and around Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Turriff & Glasgow. There are parcels on their way to Colwall, England, to the USA, Canada, Paris & Saudi Arabia.

Last week we promised you some inspirational project ideas for your yarn. It was incredibly difficult to choose as there are SO many designs perfect for the colour-ways. So, to simplify I have a selection of '1 skein' projects to share. I will be posting a little more this week (I hope I don't to bore you x) to share more ideas for 2-5 skeins.

All patterns are available to download via Ravelry, we have added a direct link to each of the pattern names, follow the link to find information about the design, meterage, needle sizes, price and purchase. If you have not used Ravelry before and need a little help, just drop us a message, hello@baawool.co.uk for advice.

So, let us get on with the job in hand. Our first design is Starshower by Hilary Smith Callis. For those of us, myself included, who find it difficult to wear a shawl without it falling off, landing in the dogs dish, or closing the shawl ends in the car door... This is your kind of pattern. The design is shaped like a shawl, but mostly worked in the round. It can be worn to look like a shawl but it is a COWL. So, unless you are planning to stand on your head, its not going to fall off!

Below (left & right) we have the cutest little Bolero. 'Fingering Entrechat by Lisa Chemery' has been a very popular pattern in the shop. Sized from 3 months to 8 years, one skein is more than enough to make any of the sizes. This cleverly constructed pattern is knit from the top down in one piece so no sewing up is a big bonus!

Featured Bottom Centre is Snowdrops by Dani Sunshine. This sweet 3/4 sleeve pullover has a pretty lace panel running from the shoulder to the cuff. The pattern is sized from age 2-10 years. One skein of The Stonehaven Collection is enough to complete 'Snowdrops' for the 2 year old size. (A second skein would be required for sizes 4-10 ears)

The following 3 shawl ideas are 'One Skein Wonders':

Venezia by Joji Locatelli is designed specifically to use every last metre of that 'special' skein of yarn. Worked 'Tip to Tip' this delicate shawlette has a centre panel worked in wavy rib with reversible diamond lace edging on either side.

Spindrift Shawl by Helen Stewart is a really simple shawl which the designer describes as the perfect project for those new to shawl knitting.

Our third shawl is Rosewater by Janina Kallio

The signature lace incorporated in this shawl is a unique combination of dropped stitches, eyelets and fishnet lace. Beautiful, versatile, and fully reversible, Rosewater is a joy to knit and wear." - words from Janina Kallio (Ravelry Pattern Page)

I feel I may have gone on a bit too long today but there is so much more to share!

That's it for now folks, later today I hope to share a little one skein inspiration for all the crochet lovers out there who are often missed out. See you soon x

P.S. Eilidh (Colliston Yarns) has already ordered more base yarn. Fingers crossed The Stonehaven Collection will be back in stock at Baa in the not too distant future.
