Shetland Wool Week is back for another year, and with it comes the Shetland Wool Week Annual Volume 12.
Inside, you’ll find seven Fair isle and lace knitting patterns designed by seven Shetland knitwear designers, all of them so lovely, it’s almost impossible to decide what to cast on first!
There have been a few changes made to this knitting book for 2026, but as always, the Shetland Wool Week Annual is about so much more than ‘just’ fabulous knitting patterns. This year’s Annual explores the seasons of Shetland and the ways in which the weather, culture and the natural environment continue to influence knitwear design.
During the creation of Shetland Wool Week Annual Volume 12, four of the featured knitwear designers were invited to create knitting patterns inspired by the seasons of Shetland. Each of these special designs is accompanied by a feature from local broadcaster and journalist Claire White, introducing the designer behind the pattern and exploring the season that inspired it. It’s a really lovely feature that offers a thoughtful glimpse into life in Shetland and the incredible landscape and culture that continues to inspire its knitters.
Knitting patterns included in the Shetland Wool Week Annual Volume 12 are:
- Haust Glivs by Emily Poleson
- Shaded Diamond Socks by Lesley Smith
- Vetch Jumper by Mandy Moore
- Da Hömin Tunic by Elizabeth Johnston
- Quenta Cowl by Ella Gordon
- Bakka Beanie by Annie Garrick / ShetlandPeerieMakkers
- Birsie Beanny by Helen Robertson
It’s a delightful and woolly wonderful treat for Shetland lovers and the perfect gift for colourwork knitters who love Fair Isle knitting. We love it!
