Cultivate brings together Dee Hardwicke and Jonna Helin to celebrate the art of knitting through 20 timeless patterns. This collection showcases Dee’s nature-inspired botanical scarves and Jonna’s effortlessly elegant garments designed for lasting style and wearability.
Dee Hardwicke, a British artist, designer, and knitter, draws inspiration from Britain’s landscapes and gardens. Her sketchbooks document the natural world and serve as the foundation for her creative work across various mediums, including collaborations with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the National Trust. Dee is also the author of The Knitted Fabric, another popular Laine publication.
Jonna Helin, founder of Laine Publishing, brings over 25 years of experience in the publishing industry. Growing up in a crafting family, knitting has always been a source of calm and focus for her, a meaningful escape from the demands of everyday life.
This is a truly exceptional publication, Dee’s attention to detail in her beautiful and delicate colour work is outstanding. To achieve this, she has utilised the art of Swiss Embroidery, otherwise known as Duplicate Stitch, to create the botanical feel to many of her pieces. Cultivate is much, much more than a knitting book.
